How to Drink Like Bradley Cooper

How to Drink Like Bradley Cooper

Hope you like H2O and coconut water

Photo Works /

Bradley Cooper loves his coconut water.

You'd think that the infamous face behind the ode to drunkeness, The Hangover, would be a drinker. But did you know the handsome Bradley Cooper (now starring in the Oscar buzzworthy flick Silver Linings Playbook) is in fact sober?

It's true: Cooper recently revealed that he gave up drinking and drugs when he realized it brought out the "tough guy" in him. And by "tough guy," we mean the guy who purposely bashes his head on a concrete floor — maybe tough isn't the word we're looking for... So Cooper has become the face of a sober actor in Hollywood, and said that sobering up was a turning point in his life. He told the Daily Beast his life is better without alcohol. So your dreams of reliving The Hangover with him in Vegas are officially shot.

But of course, the dude does in fact drink — just nothing alcoholic. And if you want to be ripped like Cooper (after all, he is dating Zoe Saldana), there's only three things you need in your fridge: water, coconut water, and protein shakes.

Yep, Cooper shared his workout secrets (and the secrets behind that Sexiest Man Alive bod), and said that it's all due to a healthy diet of water and protein shakes. He told the Sydney Morning Herald that despite his "boring" (read: sober) drink choices, he does love coconut water. "Now I drink water. Very boring. Oh, coconut water! A great LA drink." So there you have it: leave the toxin-filled, boozy drinks behind and drink natural like Cooper. At least you won't have a hangover.

Train like Bradley Cooper: Unlock the chest

Though Cooper was in shape, he'd never trained this hard before. And with an immovable shoot deadline, avoiding injuries that would set him back on his physique-building path was imperative, says his trainer, Rise Movement Studio founder Jason Walsh. By coupling heavy pushes with equally strenuous pulls, Cooper avoided the imbalances that could have caused issues when he started lifting bigger weights in the programme's closing weeks.

Morning workout

Perform one set of dumbbell presses then a set of face pulls, without rest. Take 2 mins breather then head back to the presses. Repeat for three rounds total.

Drop the bench's incline to 30 degrees to target more of your lower chest.

Lie back on a bench set to a 45-degree angle and lift the weights up to shoulder height, palms facing away from you. Breathe out as you press up with both arms. Lock out your arms and squeeze your chest before returning slowly to the start position.

If you've got a sled, try face pulls dragging it for 15 metres.

Rest: 120 secs

Attach rope handles to the top pulley on a cable machine. Kneel in front of it with one foot forward and flat on the grand. Grab the handles and pull them towards your face, drawing your hands apart and taking care to keep your upper arms flat. Pause, then reverse the movement.

Perform a set of the flyes and chest press then move to the row without rest. Take 120 secs breather then repeat, for four rounds total.

Perform the flyes and chest press as a single move, so that as soon as the dumbbells come together you begin to lower them to your chest. Push back up then fly out to the starting position for one rep, and repeat. Squeeze the dumbbells together as you lower to activate more fibres and carve out a deeper chest striation.

Lie down on a flat bench holding two dumbbells at your shoulders with your palms facing inwards. Press the dumbbells up until your arms are almost fully extended. This is your starting position. From here, with a slight bend in your arms, arc the weights down to your sides until you feel a stretch across your chest. Squeeze your pecs to return the weights to the start position by reversing the movement.

On Monday’s Live with Kelly and Ryan show, Seacrest told the audience, “I started the show and she (Ripa) quit drinking. What does that tell you? I don’t know… Is that good or bad?”

Most would argue it’s a good thing, but Ripa didn’t say why exactly she decided to be done with drinking. Maybe it was just a coincidence that she sobered up when Seacrest came on board.

She seems to practice a healthy lifestyle overall, so perhaps letting go of “the good stuff” was another way she could take care of her body.

It’s working for Pitt, so why not give it a go?

How to get Bradley Cooper’s swept-back, oh-so-cool hairdo

Alongside a stellar wardrobe, there's a vital reason why Bradley Cooper remains one of the decade's most stylish men. It’s his grooming regime. The actor has pulled off pretty much every hairstyle, from a crew cut to a messy shoulder length to a tight perm (and, yes, it worked).

Cooper's greatest grooming moment? That oh-so-cool, swept-back do, elegantly brushed and falling just below the nape of his neck. We wouldn't mind giving that look a go, so as part of our brand-new Hair Shrink column, we've enlisted the help of hairstylist Joe Mills (of Joe & Co) to find out how to achieve it.

Hi, Hair Shrink, I love Bradley Cooper's swept-back do. It's very country and western singer-cum-Seventies porn star. How do I get it? What do I ask for and how do I style it? Dom, Tewkesbury

Hi Dom, Bradley Cooper's swept-back do actually looks very undone, so the key to achieving this look is through natural movement and texture. Ideally, you need medium to heavy thick hair with a slight wave. As for length? Grow your hair to at least four to five inches on the top and back and a couple of inches longer on the sides.

Rumer Willis

Back in July 2017, Willis posted on Instagram that she was six months sober — surprising the public, many of whom assumed that meant the eldest daughter to Demi Moore and Bruce Willis had a substance abuse issue. She then told People, “My decision to become sober wasn’t out of a need necessarily, it was more just that I did ‘sober January’ and I just decided to keep going.” She even saw news segments on her sobriety, one claiming she had secretly struggled with intense addiction, and kept it hidden. “I’ve kept it hidden because there’s nothing [to hide],” Willis also told People.

Brad Pitt Credits Bradley Cooper for Helping Him Get Sober

At 55-years-old, A-list star Brad Pitt is fighting fit and ageing exceptionally (or barely at all) &ndash and it seems sobriety may play a part in that.

Pitt thanked fellow actor Bradley Cooper for helping him get sober during his acceptance speech at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala.

Cooper presented Pitt the award for best supporting actor for his role in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, directed by Quentin Tarantino. &ldquoHe&rsquos a sweetheart. I got sober because of this guy and every day has been happier since. I love you, and thank you,&rdquo he said to Cooper during his speech.

He jokingly added: &ldquoMy goals in life right now are pretty simple: just to be happy, stay healthy, and not get into a financial situation where I have to do Ocean&rsquos 14.&rdquo

With 38% of people in the UK giving up alcohol in 2019, and benefits including saving money, better skin, weight loss and reduced overall health risks, the teetotal trend is looking more and more appealing.

Last year, the 55-year-old actor opened up about sobering up after his divorce from Angelina Jolie in 2016, even attending Alcoholics Anonymous for a year and a half after their split. &ldquoI had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges,&rdquo Pitt said.

If you find you&rsquore enjoying the benefits of Dry January, it might be time to consider following in the Fight Club star&rsquos footsteps and making it a permanent lifestyle change.

Jonah Hill looks totally different now (and just like Bradley Cooper!)

If you mainly know Jonah Hill for his roles in The Wolf of Wall Street, 21 Jump Street and Superbad, you'll probably be shocked to see how unrecognisable, buff and JUST LIKE BRADLEY COOPER he looks right now.

The actor was pictured out and about in New York City earlier this week (Monday 31 August), and as well as his massive biceps and, er, massive biceps, it's hard not to notice how similar he looks to his War Dogs co star.

And by the look of the reaction on Twitter, we're not the only ones that think it.

I love stuff yeah! He's starting to look like Bradley Cooper! Jonah Hill shows off trim figure and toned arms while out with a female . -&hellip

New Jonah Hill looks like a Great Value version of Bradley Cooper.

&mdash Robin. (@eyeisrobin) June 21, 2017

The new pics come as the actor was pictured for the first time since his dramatic weight loss in April earlier this year, which sparked a new wave of Jonah Hill fans.

He was papped in LA after a workout, wearing a dark blue vest, black shorts, socks and Vans and carrying a smoothie. At first glance, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a totally different person.

Now obviously we love Jonah and his films no matter what his size, and the 33-year-old has previously spoken out publicly about having to put on weight for certain roles, and how he takes on fitness and nutrition regimes afterwards in order to lose it again.

Speaking to ABC News about slimming down for 2011 film Moneyball, the actor explained: "It was just mostly diet. I wish there was some crazy thing that I did, like a pill or a genie or something, but I went to see a nutritionist, and he told me what to eat to change my habits and stuff. I found that Japanese food was very helpful to me.

"I went to a nutritionist and I said, 'I'll lose weight, I&rsquoll eat healthier and whatever, but figure out how I can drink beer'. It's so annoying because if I don&rsquot drink beer, I get really really thin. Then when I drink beer, I get a little bigger."

Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jonah also added: " I gained weight for this movie War Dogs, and then I wanted to get in better shape, so I called Channing Tatum , and said, &lsquoHey, if I ate less and go to a trainer, will I get in better shape?&rsquo" said Jonah.

"And he said, &lsquoYes, you dumb motherf****r, of course you will, it&rsquos the simplest thing in the entire world."

How Cocoa Beans Will Make You Smarter

There's a new vanity drug on the block, and you'll be pleased to find it available in corner stores everywhere. Scientific American reports new findings that cocoa &mdash yes, the same cocoa you can eat in any ordinary candy bar &mdash contains high levels of natural, cognition boosting compounds called flavanols (FYI, not flavonols, and definitely not Flavor Flav) that can increase cognitive function. From Scientific American:

The study included 90 individuals with mild cognitive impairment, a precursor to Alzheimer's disease. Subjects who drank a cocoa beverage containing either moderate or high levels of flavanols daily for eight weeks demonstrated greater cognitive function than those who consumed low levels of flavanols on three separate tests that measured factors that included verbal fluency, visual searching and attention.

And recent research pointing to one particular flavanol &mdash (-)-epicatechin &mdash also found in cocoa has proven effective with animals, too. "It's amazing that a single dietary change could have such profound effects on behavior," says neuroscientist Fred Gage. And it is! Now onto the real questions: Will eating lots and lots of chocolate bars lead to astral projection? Will you be able to churn out books in days and insider trade like Bradley Cooper in Limitless? Will eating raw cocoa beans make our politicians any smarter? We're not holding our breath on those. [Via Scientific American]

Bradley Cooper A-Team Workout

After showing off his chiseled body in the movie The A-Team, many men wonder what is the workout secrets of Bradley Cooper to staying in such good shape? The actor opened up about his diet and exercise routine that helped him develop those killer abs and biceps that had women drooling worldwide.

The actor, who was named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2011, turned to a strict diet and exercise regime during the time he was filming The A-Team.

Ryan Reynolds was voted in 2010 as People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive”

In the movie The A-Team, the actor played Templeton “Faceman” Peck, a smooth ladies’ man who romances beautiful Jessica Biel, making it even more important for the actor playing the role to be in top shape and form.

Bradley Cooper A- Team Workout Routine

In order to get those six-pack abs he wanted for The A-Team, Bradley Cooper knew he’d have to put in long hours at the gym. Working with a personal trainer, the actor began in a high intense interval workout that resulted in the cut, toned body visible when he takes his shirt off in the movie.

The Bradley Cooper Workout involved two hours a day. While the actor admitted he’d been athletic all his life, the A-Team role challenged him in ways he’d never been challenged before physically. Because he was playing a Special Forces soldier, Cooper had to take his already great physique and hone it to elite soldier precision.

The high intense interval 3-2-1 workout developed by celebrity trainer Ramona Braganza helped Bradley Cooper along. The actor has been said to focus on a routine that incorporated three cardio circuits, two strength training circuits, and one core circuit. In all, this part of the workout lasts an hour but it is fast paced and is said to get phenomenal results. For an example of the Bradley Cooper’s circuit workout, try these steps:

  1. Do a five- to ten-minute warm up exercise, such as a light jog.
  2. Do an exercise that works out the lower body, such as lunges.
  3. Five to ten minutes of intense cardio, preferably uphill. Either choose a hilly area outdoors in which to walk or while indoors, set the treadmill at a considerable incline – level 3 or higher to get maximum benefit from the run.
  4. Do another five to ten minutes of lower body exercises, but with different exercises from the first step. Squats are great for lower body muscles. You can also try leg lifts, done either by lying on the ground or holding onto a chair. Doing these exercises in front of a mirror can help you improve form and maximize your benefits.
  5. Complete another five to ten minutes of cardio such as running, elliptical training or swimming.
  6. Do a set of exercises that work out your abs for five to ten minutes. Crunches are great for the abs. Try crunches that incorporate variety to be sure to work out every aspect of your abs. Crunches that require lying flat on the ground while lifting your legs are great for the lower abs.

To get ripped like Bradley Cooper, try the Somanabolic Muscle Maximizer Workout today to simultaneously build muscle, sculpt a six-pack, increase endurance, and strip fat fast.

In Men’s Health , Bradley Cooper advised super-setting exercises that target specific muscles, then working those muscles as hard as possible.

“Super-setting exercises that target the same muscle groups, then going until you can’t do another rep ensures the recruitment of maximum muscle fiber at all times. Which equals more muscle growth.”

He also recommended hanging a photo of your desired body in a place where you see it every day. This can help you stay focused on your goal.

In the end, when Cooper saw the dailies of his performance on The A-Team, he was in awe of the results of his hard work. His first reaction was to think his head had been superimposed on someone else’s body. The actor referenced the Soloflex commercials he grew up watching, saying he’d always wanted to look like the guy in those commercials.

Bradley Cooper’s Diet

In addition to the Bradley Cooper workout plan, the actor focused on a diet that reduced carbohydrates and focused on health. The actor cut sugar, salt, and flour from his diet, focusing instead on those foods every dieter is told to embrace – vegetables and proteins.

The actor recommends choosing wisely on protein shakes. In Men’s Health , he stated that many common protein shakes often contain chemicals and fillers that the body has a hard time digesting. This can slow down any weight loss effort. He prefers products that are ‘Whey Protein Isolate’ or is ‘rBGH free’ as well as eat natural foods whenever possible.

Cooper also advised that it is vital to drink lots of water daily to hydrate the body and follow the diet strictly for at least six weeks to rid the body of toxins and maintain one’s hormones at optimal levels to maintain proper muscles growth.

By following these Bradley Cooper workout and diet tips, you can be sure to get the same sculpted physique that will make you look like a member of an elite special forces unit.

Host With The Most: Legendary Guys’ Night Ideas

The first rule of guys’ night is there are no rules. Okay, so that’s not really true. With families, full-time jobs and adult responsibilities – that mortgage isn’t going to pay itself – not everyone can throw caution to the wind and run with the wolves like Bradley Cooper in The Hangover.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a legendary guys’ night, especially when the host (that’s you) has a man cave tricked out with a pool table, dart board, vintage arcade games, a bar that would make Don Draper jealous and more sports memorabilia than Cooperstown’s Baseball Hall of Fame.

Still, having a man cave doesn’t guarantee an epic guys’ night. In order to make the evening memorable, you need to be the host with the most, a creative master of ceremonies who knows how to throw a party. Don’t just invite everyone over without a game plan. Getting the old tribe together is as rare as lightening striking the same spot twice (or as extraordinary as a unicorn or leprechaun sighting). From food and drink to setting up a theme, here are some great ideas for hosting a memorable guys’ night.

Casino Night

Who needs Vegas when you can turn your man cave into Caesars Palace? Whether it’s for cash or glory, gambling has a special place in guys’ hearts. It’s like comfort food. There’s nothing more satisfying than beating your best friends at blackjack, 7-Card Stud, or Texas Hold’em, and then bragging about it for the following year. In fact, with a man cave, you can even up the ante and go Fully Monty and rent a craps table or roulette wheel. Casino Night was always a hit in college, so what better way is there for you and your buddies to relive your glory days and take a vicarious man-cation to Sin City than to host an adult game night?

  • Food and Drink: Nothing says Vegas like an all you can eat buffet. In other words, skip the burgers, dogs and chips and impress your guests with oysters, lobster and crab legs. Make vintage cocktails that would make the Rat Pack proud: a martini, Manhattan or Rusty Nail should do the trick.
  • What Your Friends Should Bring: A winning attitude and something to gamble with. Cash, poker chips, golf tees, snacks and favors (yes, that royal flush might win you a summer’s worth of lawn mowing services) are all acceptable.

Sports Tournament

Watching sports is the ultimate male pastime. It’s the trophy hunting and deep-sea fishing of entertainment. But being that there’s a “big game” on every week that requires wings, beer and a 50-inch HDTV, there’s nothing unique about hosting a watch party. Hosting a sports tournament, however, is something else entirely it’s a no-holds barred activity that separates the men from the boys. A man cave isn’t a man cave unless there’s a game area. Pool, darts and foosball are ideal games for sports tournaments. If you’re lucky enough to have a man cave with a lavish outdoor wing, consider horseshoes or a corn hole tournament. On the other hand, if the only game area you have in your man cave is a cabinet with old high school trophies and a video game system, don’t be shy about dusting off the old Nintendo 64 and challenging your friends to a Mario Party or Super Smash Brothers tournament. Make it real by constructing a March Madness-style bracket.

  • Food and drink: A sports tournament is a no frills event. We’re talking strictly burgers, pizza, wings, franks, sausages, a bucket of wing, and the coldest domestic beer you can find.
  • What Your Friends Should Bring: A willingness to exaggerate their greatest sports exploits (you know, the Hail Mary that won it all was really a 10-yard pass), a six pack and a package of Ballpark franks.

Movie Night

Your man cave is filled with all of the stuff that your significant other claims there’s no room for in the house, and that includes vintage movie posters for movies like Scarface, The Godfather, Rocky, Reservoir Dogs or any 80’s film featuring Bruce Willis or Arnold Schwarzenegger. Sure, movies are typically the cornerstone of “date night,” but is there anything that brings men together quite like stunt-filled action sequences, epic car chases and stories of good heroically triumphing over evil? Manteresting movies provide two-hours of testosterone-fueled entertainment. They also give you the opportunity to show off your state-of the-art entertainment system, not to mention your collection of old school recliners.

  • Food and Drink:Manteresting movie night is a beer and finger food affair. If you happen to have an old-fashioned popcorn-making cart, now is the time to roll it out and fire it up.
  • What Your Friends Should Bring:Chips & dip and nostalgia for action films.

Beer Tasting

No man cave is complete without a kegerator , burly beer light fixtures , and more bar stools than the TV show Cheers. The problem with a kegerator, however, is that it limits the type of beer you and your buddies can drink – most kegerators have only one tap. Planning a beer tasting evening allows you and your friends to sample several different varieties of beer. Over the past decade, the craft beer market has exploded (In the U.S., sales of craft beer increased 10% in 2016.). There’s more to beer than the factory-produced brew that once dominated the beer market. From Double IPA’s and nitro stouts to Belgian Saisons and German wheat beers, there are more beers to sample than there are guys’ nights to sample them.

  • Food and Drink: A variety of cheeses, pretzels, peanuts, mustards and… beer!
  • What Your Friends Should Bring: Have your pals bring a top-rated beer from BeerAdvocate’s website.

Grilling & Chilling

Grilling and chilling is the classic mantastic activity. Not only is it as simple and unfussy as that pair of old sweatpants you wear every football Sunday, but it harkens back to the prehistoric days when our ancestors built fires and roasted meat on a spit. Instead of talking cars and sports, take the chilling one step further and play a pick-up game of whiffle-ball in the backyard.
